Rappahannock Counts High School held its annual Career Day last Wednesday. Career Day offered excellent presentations by many professionals. Students had the chance to talk with Sgt. Nelson. Mr. Canfield and Sgt. La Patra, representing the armed forces and Mrs. Donald and Ms. Wert, from the Washington School for Secretaries, representing secretarial careers. Various health related careers were part of the program, also. Talking on siK’ial work was Mrs. Kreitler; for law enforcement, Trooper Harry Newlin; for medical careers, Ms. Eggborn; for psychological careers. Mrs. Meyer. Mr. Vogler and Mr. Wood spoke to the students on computer related career fields. Other careers represented were photography by Mr. Willis; food services by Ms. Estes; U. S. post Office by Mr. Miller; Real Estate by Mitzie Young;' teaching by Ms. Griffin and banking by Mrs. Williams.
The students had the opportunity for two hours to rotate and attend different discussion groups and ask questions about particular fields. Many of the speakers used slides, movies and examples of equipment that they utilize in their everyday jobs to attempt to better inform the students.
This week the Panther Tales would like to recognize two students who have received outstanding honors.
Ann Oliver, a rising junior at RCHS, has been selected to participate in Virginia’s tenth Governor's School for the Gifted. As one of 153 rising junior and senior high school students, Ann will be attending the school at
