Asked by supervisors H. B. Wood about unexpended funds expected in the current school budget, the superintendent reported that surplus totaled $243,000 at the end of February but that he anticipated a good portion of that money would be used prior to July 1.
“We do anticipate a margin but I hesitate to speculate on how much it will be.” Estabrook added that with funds from the bus shop condemnation suit, he projected that the surplus would be sufficient ($45,000 to $46,000) to cover the cost of building the combination office-garage.
Title I director Jerry Lysik also assured the supervisors that carry-over funds accumulated by Rappahannock for that federally supported program are sufficient to finance Title 1 operations for another year no matter what Congress eventually decides to do with its 1982-83 budget.
