SPTA Plans
Dome Raising
Following career day on Saturday, May 1, parents are invited to help lower the dome at the elementary school playground, beginning at 2 p.m. The Rappahannock school board earlier approved the SPTA (Student-ParentTeacher Association) plan to remove the bottom rung of the geodesic dome in order to make it a safer piece of equipment for primary students. But muscle is needed on Saturday to get the job done.
In other plans for the elementary schoolyard, students in the new gifted and talented program architecture seminar will design a section of the playground. The students will present their ideas for approval at the May 19 SPTA meeting.
Also on the agenda for the May meeting is a benefit performance of the play, "The Sixth Juror,” by sixth graders to raise money for next year’s class trip to Williamsburg. A donation of $1 for adults and 50 cents for children is requested.
The SPTA’s plant sale will continue every Friday at the elementary school from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. until the end of May. Orders may be placed in advance with Chris Edson, 937-5430, or Laurie Marshall at the school. Warm weather plants will be available. Plants will also be on sale at the May SPTA meeting.
