To the editor:
I am a former resident of Rappahannock County, though I have moved I have continued to read your newspaper. For the last several weeks I have read something which causes me great concern and grief. I feel compelled at this time to respond.
The tragic issue which causes me this remorse is the recent decision to demote Mr. Dennis Wingfield.
The purpose of my letter is neither to criticize nor to advise, but to tell what I think about a dear friend. I can comment on a man for whom I have great respect.
I know Dennis Wingfield as a principal, for I attended and graduated from RCHS. Later I was a substitute teacher for the high school, and I knew him as a supervisor.
Through all these times 1 knew him as a friend. It was my belief then as it is my belief now that Dennis Wingfield is a fair and good man from any perspective.
There may be those individuals who believe that Mr. Wingfield and those things for which he stands are defeated, but I rather believe that they are in error. I see an immense victory.
