Eastham voiced his support as well for the new position, maintaining that the additional administrator will enable Estabrook and Lysik to visit every classroom, evaluate all teachers and train principals and assistant principals to take over evaluation duties.
The supervisors gave no indication on Monday as to what they will do with the instructional category which includes teacher salaries, proposed by the school board to be increased by 8.5 percent.
In his presentation of the draft budget for all county operations, Cox reported that most of the localities he knows of are giving salary increases of four to eight percent.
Cox noted that the supervisors are scheduled to act on the school budget next Monday, May 3.
"As far as local funds are concerned, that’s it,” remarked Wood.
"That's the budget,” the accountant agreed.
(Cox later determined that of the total S3.4 million preliminary county budget, $1.5 million must come from local sources.)
Property At $2 Million
Under the new 100 percent fair market value assessments, worth of the county’s real estate listed on the first page of the proposed budget form skyrocketed from 511,850,000 in 1981 to $200,000,000 this year. Cox noted that the figure takes into account lower values for property receiving use value taxation, adding that he also lowered the total by five percent to offset any changes
