coordinator Jerry Lysik reported that the new bus will replace the oldest vehicle on line, bus number 14 which is a 1970 model. With the addition of the one vehicle in the 1982-83 budget, the oldest busses in the school fleet will be two 1972 models.
Chairman Beverly Massie noted that the elimination of a second replacement bus from next year’s allocation will not jeopardize either the transportation service or the safety of students.
New Position Kept
In cutting $72,000 from the bottom line of the proposed budget, the supervisors also recommended elimination of the new position for director of special services. The school board instead dropped the salary for the slot from $20,000 to $18,000.
