Campground Fees Increased
The 1982 campground fee for Shenandoah National Park will be $5 per-site, per-night. Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen has announced.
Big Meadows, Mathews Arm and Loft Mountain Campgrounds are now open, and Lewis Mountain Campground opens May 21.
The Big Meadows Campground will be one of the campgrounds in seven national parks on a reservation system. Since the campground is filled to capacity most of the summer, a reservation eliminates the anxiety of wondering where to find camping space
The reservation system will operate May 21 to October 24 at Big Meadows. Reservations will be accepted up to eight weeks in advance of a planned visit. A $2 fee is charged for the computerized service. This service charge is in addition to the campground fee.
Reservations can be made at any Ticketron outlet across the country. They can also be made by mail. A folder containing a mail order form is available from the Superintendent, Shenandoah National Park, Luray, Va. 22835 and Public Affairs Office, National Park Service, Mid-Atlantic Region, 143 South Third St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19106. No reservations are accepted by telephone
