District Black Caucus appeared before the county school board to request an affirmative action program on hiring more black teachers in Rappahannock’s public schools.
Mrs. Earl Edmonds’ fourth graders from Rappahannock County Elementary School placed first in state competition sponsored by the Virginia Geographical Society. Their unique map was drawn on a background of rust burlap with the Commonwealth outlined in rick-rack, braid and yarn. Raymond E. Hogan was hired by the school board as assistant to the superintendent and coordinator of Federal programs, filling the poe{. vacated by T.A. Fleetwood. *
