The Fauquier Community Action Committee, Inc. has received a contract from the Virginia Employment Commission in the amount of $225,000 to operate a Summer Youth Employment Program in all five counties in Planning District 9—Madison, Culpeper, Orange, Fauquier and Rappahannock.
The program will serve approximately 150 economically disadvantaged youth between the ages of fourteen and twenty-one during the summer months. Youths may work 30-37.5 hours per week during the enrollment period June 21 through August 20, 1982.
Worksites for the fivecounty program will include public and private non-profit organizations such as area public elementary and high schools, county health departments, public libraries, town and county office facilities, Vint Hill Farm Station, PD-9 Commission, county maintenance departments and other nonprofit facilities. Worksites which have participated in previous years should have received a letter offering positions through SYEP. All public and private non-profit organizations interested in providing youths a valuable work experience are encouraged to contact the office at (703) 347-7018.
