“Now, let’s see - the first TV 1 ever saw was in the old school building that’s closed now and a man brought that up from Rock Mills and charged 25 cents and we came all the way from home - drove five miles in a buggy to see the TV.

“Well, it wasn’t much of a television. We couldn’t get any reception. I remember that when we turned it on a man in the audience yelled, “wild geese, wild geese!” It sounded exactly like wild geese going overhead. And we didn't see anything at all.

“The next time 1 saw one it was in a private home. Old Professor Mitchell had one - everyone who taught school was called professor - and 1 well remember listening. Of course, it wasn’t good - the
