"Are we doing our job satisfactorily as far as the supervisors are concerned?” Barksdale asked at last month’s special meeting.
“On the basis of what I’ve looked at, I think you're doing a good job,” chairman Latham replied.
Judging from the tax records on file in the Commissioner of Revenue's office, assessments on property held by the supervisors parallel adjustments made by the Equalization Board on other properties.
Appraisal on 216.48 acres of pasture belonging to Latham was raised from $800 to $1,000 an acre while 45 acres of forest land remained at $600 an acre.
Assessments on Clarence Baldwin’s, Hubert Gilkey’s and Charles Estes’ property remain unchanged from fair market value set initially by appraiser Jerry Hall.
