At the start of Tuesday’s meeting, Rappahannock County Education Association representative Richard Smith asked the school board to return the 1982-83 budget to the supervisors without making adjustments to absorb the $72,000 cut from the bottom line. He described the projected spending for next year as "a minimal operating budget” with “no fat.” If the supervisors “choose to cut corners on our children’s future,” he said, then that board should have to bear responsibility for its actions.
