school board announced
plans for a summer preschool program and a correctional reading program for students in grades 1-7. Funded with federal money under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, the classes will be held at Sperryville Elementary School under the direction of Principal Mary Quaintance.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie M. Burke of Woodville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house attended by over 125 guests.
In recognition of their interest in forestry, wildlife and general conservation of natural resources, Hugh R. Deal and Richard W. Deal, both of Sperryville, were selected as Rappahannock’s representatives to the 1967 State Forestry Camp.

tentative budget of $1,111,740 for the 1972-73 fiscal year, holding taxes at the current levy of $4.10 per $100.
Two men joined the former allwoman executive and legislative branches of Washington’s government. Elected as Mayor was Andrew F. Kozik while Kermit Weakley took a seat with the five ladies who were reelected to the town council.
Charles Thomas completed the mile run in 4:33 to win first place in Skyline District competition and advance to the regional finals.
