Mental Health Meeting
The Mental Health Association of Rappahannock County will have its annual meeting on Thursday, May 13. at 7:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library.
Mrs. Jo Gorman, executive director of Community Services Board, Culpeper, will be guest speaker. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
Business Council To Meet
The Sperryville Business Council will meet on Thursday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rescue Squad building. All members and interested area merchants are urged to attend.
Methodist Crusade Begins
Plan now to attend the third annual Proclaim the Word held each spring by the Rappahannock United Methodist Churches. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Floyd A. Murphy, currently serving St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Arlington.
Rev. Murphy, a native of High Point, N. C. graduated in 1944 from Mt. Rainier High School, Mt. Rainier, Md. He served in the U. S. Army from 1944-46 in the U. S.. Philippines and Japan. He attended Taylor University from 1951-56, graduating with a B. A. degree in Biblical literature^ minoring in sociology.
Rev. Murphy was ordained in the Southeastern Evangelistic Group in Georgia, and served as a full time evangelist. He came into the Virginia United Methodist Conference in I960. In February 1970 he and his wife took part in a Mission Crusade to Haiti with the Oriental Missionary Society.
Pastorates in the Virginia Conference have included North Fluvanna Charge 1960-65, Rapidan Charge 196570, Calvary in Salem 1970. St. Mark’s in Arlington 1978 to present. Rev. Murphy has also been the Secretary - Treasurer for the Conference Evangelical Group. United Methodists for Evangelistic Faith for many years. The four^night event will begin on Sunday, May 16, with a covered dish dinner at 6:30 p.rr|. at the Flint Hill fire hall. Monday night the covered dish dinner will be at 6:30, service 7:30 at Sperryville Methodist Church. Tuesday service is at Flint Hill Methodist at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday covered dish dinner at 6:30 and service at 7:30 at Willis Chapel in Huntly. The public is invited.
