The regulation was intended to permit the division for family transfer of lots of record as of 1963. The general concept of family transfers has been debated and discussed repeatedly by the planners; they have acknowledged that the constitutionally questionable provision had to be included in order for the first county zoning ordinance to be acceptable to the public.
McNear reported that the revised zoning ordinance allows family transfers but for the definition of family transfer, it says “see subdivision ordinance.”
“So when we do the new subdivision ordinance (scheduled for review and revision as soon as the zoning ordinance is complete), we’ll change it at that time,” planner Newbill Miller responded. “That makes it just perfect.”
