Charles Edward Grigsby, 47, of Sperryville, died Saturday, July 23, 1983, at Blue Ridge Hospital in Charlottesville.
Mr. Grigsby was a native of Rappahannock County, a fanner and a trustee of Hope Hill Baptist Church near Castleton. He was the son of Mrs. Maggie Grimsley Grigsby of Woodville and the late Paul Grigsby.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Mrs. Diana Estep Grigsby; three sons, Charles E. Grigsby, Jr. of Culpeper, Jerry L. Grigsby of Luray and Vincent Grigsby of Sperryville; three daughters, Mrs. Donna Cave of Culpeper, Mrs. Lois Thomas and Miss Crystal Grigsby, both of Sperryville and four grandchildren.
Additional survivors include three brothers, Alvin Grigsby of Castleton, Hugh Grigsby and K. P. Grigsby, both of Woodville and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Burke of Woodville and Mrs. Louise Faulkner of Castleton.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at Hope Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Milton Switzer assisted by the Rev. Archie Clatterbuck and the Rev. Hoover Heflin. Burial was in the Grigsby family cemetery near Castleton.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Buracker, Jerry Burke, Alvin Grigsby, Edward Frazier, Charlie Thomas and Thomas Williams.
Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of arrangements.
