Say, wasn’t that our old friend Dave Konick at the Chester Gap fire and rescue carnival Friday night? We know he’s been active with both the ' Castleton and Washington volunteer fire departments since 1979, but what was he doing at Chester Gap? Well, it seems he volunteered to sit over the dunk tank; and by ten o’clock he was sopping. His hair dripping in his eyes. Then they recruited him to cook burgers and wait the counter at the concession stand with Hubie. We suppose he just eryoys getting out and meeting people.
The most permanent guests at the Ray and Ruby Cannon home aren’t people; they’re a family of foxes. Ray succeeded in getting them to pose for the sweetest portraits and stopped by the Rappahannock News to share them with all of us.
James and Louise Grigsby are brushing up on their life-saving skills as they prepare to become summer teachers. On August 16th the first class will be held at the Castleton fire hall. People interested in learning CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) should call James to pre-register. That’s so the squad can order enough textbooks.
