“When we moved it here, we weren’t aware we were violating the zoning ordinance,” Sharp said, adding that the Health Department had 30 to 50 such trailers scattered across the state. “As far as placement, we would put it where ever you directed,” he assured the commissioners, noting that the facility will be connected to the elementary school’s water and sewer systems and will therefore not need separate septic and water permits. “There are lots of places that would like to have this trailer,” he added.
“We have no problem with the concept. We’re just trying to find a way to do it so no one will make a stink about it,” commissioner David Fannon said.
Noting that the adoption of the revised zoning ordinance will provide a second chance at making changes in wording, the commissioners voted unanimously to set the public hearing on the dental trailer amendment for August 17. The supervisors will be asked to advertise the amendment for public hearing at their September meeting so that the trailer will be operational soon after school opens.
In other action, the planners approved advertise- '* ment of (1) tag-on applications for the Jenkins Mountain Agricultural and Forestal District and (2) receipt of an application for an Agricultural and Forestal District at Red Oak Mountain.
