The commissioners agreed to include in the revised ordinance provision for the board of zoning appeals to establish setback for utility structures on a caseby-case basis.

Trailer Amendment

The commissioners scheduled a public hearing for their August meeting on a proposed zoning ordinance amendment to allow trailers providing dental and medical services.

Dr. Riehard Hughes of the U.ST“ Public Health Service who is assigned to Rappahannock County explained that space is needed to expand the dental clinic now operated out of Health Department offices in Washington.

The clinic serves school children primarily, but also indigent residents of the county, Hughes said. Locating the trailer behind the elementary school will resolve the transportation problem posed by having to bring the children to Washington for dental treatment, he said. “They won’t miss as much class,” he added.

The trailer, which will have two chairs, a waiting room and a doctor’s study, is being provided at no cost to the county. All installation expenses will be paid by the Health Department,
