Prices for Rappahannock hogs ranged from 85 cents a pound to $1.15. The high price was bid by Roger Roach from Pignut Mt. Enterprises for a 225 pound hog shown by Irvin Starks. Current market price is approximatey 45 cents. The grand champion hog, shown by Stoney Frye of Sperryville, was bought by Cherry Street Building Supply in Culpeper for $1.35 per pound.
Auctioneers at Monday’s livestock show urged the crowd on in its bidding, repeating the opinion of the judges that this year’s Culpeper - Madison - Rappahannock farm show included the strongest swine line-up ever judged in the state.
