The Rappahannock Sheriffs Department took less than 24 hours to make arrests for the Thursday night break-in and grand larceny at the Rappahannock Farmer’s Cooperative.
Carl Lee Roberts, 18, of Woodville, and Michael Mair, 20, of Front Royal, face three counts of breaking and entering and three counts of grand larceny stemming from the incident at the Co-op and two earlier thefts. Roberts is free on personal recognizance while Mair, who is also charged with sodomy, remains in the Warren County jail, according to the jailer.
According to acting sheriff John Henry Woodward, the two men entered the Coop during the storm Thursday night, breaking out a window in the revolving door on the loading dock. “They worked behind a truck that blocked them from sight from the road," Woodward reported. Using screw drivers they found in the lounge, Mair and Roberts removed a window in the metal door leading to the showroom but found the door padlocked and had to pry it open with a crow bar, the deputy said.
