Gospel Extravaganza
A gospel extravaganza will be held at the Community Center near Washington on Sunday, July 31, at 3 p.m.
Those expected for the performance are Sister Ethel Jackson and The Stars of Bethlehem of Vienna, Kelly Johnson and the Award Winning Singers from Washington, D.C., the Rev. Corum and the United Gospel Singers from Northern Virginia, the Slaughter family of Reva and the St. James Male Chorus from Bealeton.
Kenneth White of WCUL, Culpeper, will be master of ceremonies. Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the memorial fund of Promise Land Baptist Church, Washington. The public is invited to attend.
Sponsors for the program include Vivian Gatewood, Ruth Williams, Sandy Hart, and James 0. Johnson, Sr.
Hope Hill Baptist
Hope Hill Baptist Church near Castleton will present the “Dominion State Quartet” in concert on Sunday, July 31 at 10:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The group is from Roanoke and will present instrument and vocal country style gospel songs. The public is invited and a free will offering will be received for the quartet. The Rev. Milton Switzer is the pastor of Hope Hill.
Promise Land Baptist
The Rev. John Hale from Clarke County will be guest speaker at the Promise Land Baptist Church on Friday, July 29 at 8 p.m.
The program will benefit the building fund of Promise Land. The Rev. John R. Pendleton is pastor and the public is cordially invited.
