Most of the major lines, the power company’s top priority, were back in operation within two or three hours, Updike said. Repairs to individual service began Friday morning and the last powerless REC customer had lights back on at 8:45 p.m. that evening, he said. Transmission lines in the Rixeyville and Richardsville area sustained the most damage, Updike added. “Those were some of the largest trees I’ve seen go down in a long time—trees three and four feet in diameter.” According to reports Updike received, winds gusted up to 60 miles per hour.
