Mrs. Mattie E. Edwards, 81, of Amissville, died Thursday, July 21, 1983, at the Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at the Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Carter Alsberry. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Dora S. Carter, Mrs. Mabel E. Collins, Ms. Mary E. Edwards, all of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Alberta Clipper of Fredericksburg; seven sons, William Edwards, Wilburt Edwards, Ivin Edwards, all of Washington, D. C., Robert Edwards of The Bronx, N. Y., Frank Edwards of Utica, Mich., Warner Edwards and Earl Edwards, both of Germany; one sister, Mrs. Edna Phillips of West Virginia; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Joynes Funeral Home in Warrenton.
Evening With “Pops”
The Sheandoah Valley Music Festival presents an evening with the “pops” on Friday, July 29, at 8. The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of William Hudson, will perform popular music by Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern, John Philip Sousa and George Gershwin.
