During Monday’s livestock sale market lambs were the subjects of some competitive bidding. Jennifer McNear’s lamb weighing 115 pounds brought $2.50, higher even than the grand champion market lamb (belonging to Allan Washington of Madison) which brought $2.35. McNear’s lamb ranked at the mid-point in judging, placing 13 in a field of 27.
Every other Rappahannock lamb brought $2 pound at the auction. Rappahannock Extension Agent Birgitt Thornhill says the average market price was 42 cents. At least one Rappahannock youngster said she planned to buy her lamb back at market price and show it next year. April Adams says she might show
