James says bids for the new ambulance range from $37,000 to $44,000.
The Amissville ambulance account was called “the biggie” as state officials announced grants totaling $32,467 for four jurisdictions within the RappahannockRapidan Planning District. The Washington Volunteer Rescue Squad received $2,800 for radio equipment. Squads in Richardsville and Orange County received the rest of the money. Requests from nine areas in the district had totaled $56,000.
Making the announcements at Tuesday’s EMS banquet was state Delegate Raymond R. “Andy” Guest who told the audience that it was “a pleasure to share vicariously your tax lollars coming back to you.”
Also at Tuesday’s annual meeting, the district EMS council elected Paul Poling, Amissville fire chief, to serve another term as its president. Poling was recently appointed to the governor’s state advisory council for emergency medical services.
