How about that Castleton rescue squad? Up at five in the morning on Monday to carry Peggy Woodward from Fauquier Hospital to Mary Washington in Fredericksburg for tests. Sometimes we forget they do it all for free.
All together, the rescue squads around Rappahannock are some of the finest neighbors and most dedicated volunteers around. And at carnival time, they make it fhn for us to help them help us.
You may have noticed in another part of the paper that our Castleton correspondent has been promoted to a fulltime staff writer position at the Rappahannock News. But Aunt Michele will not abandon her Castleton friends. She will continue the dubious practice of telephoning total strangers to ask them what they did over the weekend. For, as Aunt Michele has recently learned, “They don’t stay strangers for long.”
