“I’m not here to sell you; I’m really here to help,” Harris kept repeating. However, T.R. Davis is primarily a construction company which would submit its own bid on the job, he noted. Harris said the company has submitted nothing firm so far in terms of cost since the project must be put out for bids.
A preliminary figure of $130,000 was mentioned at the August 9 school board meeting and again at this week’s informational session. Harris compared the amount to a million dollar roof his firm has designed for the Vepco plant and added that the overlay process is the least expensive way to repair the RCES roof. According to Harris, the other renovation techniques would require first tearing out the present roof at a cost of approximately 50 cents per foot.
Five Cents Per Foot
