A one-day festival of crafts with an auction, live entertainment and bike and foot races will mark Country Spirit Day in The Plains October 15.

The Plains dates from 1725 and was officially incorporated as a town in 1910. With a population of 382, it is a village being reborn with such attractions as a wine and cheese shop, an iron forger, antique shop, frame shop, restaurant and country store.

The Plains is located off Interstate 66 in Fauquier County between Marshall and Gainesville.
