at Slate Mills. Nancy says the group was fairly well agreed that Rappahannock should work toward better pay for teachers, more computer courses in the schools, and a better gifted and talented program.
On Monday night, it was Nancy holding the parents’ meeting. She’s president of the Booster Club this year and the members met at her house to start getting ready for the dance and friendship follies with which they hope to fund a computer for the schools.
Going away to school is a reason for some bitter sweet family reunions this time of the year. Nancy took her daughter Pamela Tribino to George Mason University and left her there to major in communications.
Meanwhile Nancy’s stepdaughter Laurie Schoppet has moved to Front Royal where she will study computers at Lord Fairfax.
Taking 16-year-old David Fridenstine to the Randolph Macon Academy at Front Royal was a sad moment for Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fridenstine. “It seems like only yesterday we were taking Neal to William and Mary,” Mrs. Fridenstine told our correspondent Monday night, “and now we have taken the first grand-chib1 away to school.”
Mr. and Mrs. Neal Fridenstine, from Lancaster, Virginia, and David’s other grandmother, Mrs. Hubert Caskey, came too, as well as his sister Lynn. The rest of the guests spent the weekend only, but Lynn was staying in Castleton through this week.
Expected for Labor Day weekend is Cherry Vanneman’s niece Jennifer Todd Bobo. She is due to arrive today.
Tomorrow is Sarah McNemar’s birthday. It’s toll free to call Culpeper from Castleton. So, let’s everybody who knows her (and maybe even a few who don’t) call her up and sing to her!
Speaking of birthdays, Aunt Michele’s real nephew John Hilbrand got that trip to Graceland he wanted for his. But he says the folks “accidentally travelled across the border to Mississippi” when they tried to go from Kentucky to Tennessee and they never did find Virginia. (A sense of direction seems to run in the family.)
It didn’t matter though because Aunt Michele was in Massachusetts at the time
