The battery of five tests in English composition, social studies, natural science, literature and mathematics are designed to measure major skills that are mastered in a four-year high school curriculum.
By achieving satisfactory scores on GED tests adults may earn a high school equivalency certificate, qualify for admission to college or advanced educational opportunities; meet educational requirements for employment or promotion; satisfy educational qualifications for induction in the United States Armed Forces.
Applicants must: be at least 18 years of age. (Under special circumstances which are considered justifiable by local school authorities, the age limit may be lowered.)
