Franklin William Atwood, 72, of Luray, died Thursday, August 25, 1983, at his residence.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray by the Rev. Kenneth Graff. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Luray.
Mr. Atwood was born February 26, 1911, in Page County, the son of the late John W. and bertie Huffman Atwood. He was retired from the Fairfax County school system.
Surviving with his wife, Frances Bradley Atwood, are two sons, Forrest N. Atwood and Charles B. Atwood, both of Luray; three daughters, Roberta Jenkins of Washington, Va., Doris Burke of Luray and Lois Atwood of Harrisonburg; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers, Ruben Atwood of Luray, E. Lee Atwood of Richmond, E. Roy Atwood of Mechanicsville and John R. Atwood of Glen Allen and four sisters, Nina E. Miller of Luray, Mabel L. Atwood of Bridgewater, Rena Walker of Front Royal and Iva C. Huffman of Monongahela, Pa.
