William Roland Welch, Sr.. 59, of Mountain View Farm, Flint Hill died Friday, November 18, 198;!, at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church by the Rev. Merlin W. Shorb. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Welch was a prominent land owner and a fanner. He was the son of the late Guy Elwood and Lula Foster Welch. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War.
He was a former board member of the Rappahannock Farmers Cooperative, had served for 15 years on the Rappahannock Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service Board and was founder of the Flint Hill Hunt Club. He was also a member of the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the Flint Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Arland Fincham Welch: three sons, Roger Allen Welch of Mt. Airy, Md.. William Roland Welch of Oxford, N. C. and Wendell Dale Welch of Flint Hill; three brothers, Robert Edward Welch, Elwood Junior Welch and Larrie Leslie Welch, all of Flint Hill and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Flint Hill Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the Flint Hill United Methodist Church.
Arrangements were handled by the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal.
