That unusual precaution was taken because of threats of suits in the case. After town attorney Douglas Baumgardner reviewed the transcript, he met with the council in executive session last Wednesday. Miller said the meeting, which lasted approximately 45 minutes, was held to examine all the “various options in voting yes or no and to examine all the facts involved in denying and granting.”
Friday’s special session for the vote was called in order to comply with the council’s mandatory 60 day time limit for deciding on zoning applications. That time would have elapsed before the next regularly scheduled session.
