Recalling earlier discussions of regulations on non-conforming uses that will be included in the revised zoning ordinance, commissioner Newbill Miller recalled that the planners had proposed allowing nonconforming structures in villages to be enlarged up to 25 percent of existing ground floor footage as long as the setback from the road wasn’t decreased.
“We should write the amendment to reflect what the Planning Commission is now considering in the revisions so when they’re adopted, the amendment and the revised ordinance will match,” suggested Charles “Pete” Estes, the Board of Supervisors’ representative to the Planning Commission.
