When considering the purchase of a home, a knowledge of urban expansion might not only be interesting, but also useful. Generally speaking, urban areas expand according to three different forms. Close examination of a map will illustrate these forms.
Suburban growth is one of these methods of expansion. Essentially, these are “patches” or islands of settlements away from the city limits area. If you like to be “away from it all” in a certain sense, a suburban home might be for you! Another type of expansion is called ring or circle growth. It means growth in a circle around the central nucleus of the city. A home in this area might be close to town or far away, depending on wdiich “circle” is chosen.
