Roof Raised
The Inn has a permit to add a new roof to the top of the building. Council members agreed on Friday that no height variance is needed since the restaurant is “a semi-public building.” The new roof will raise the building by approximately four feet and extend it by 13.
Council members voted that The Inn suffers a hardship not generally shared by other buildings since it is the only restaurant in town, and one not likely to be solved by an amendment to the zoning ordinance since, in the words of Miller, “I doubt very seriously if there’ll be another restaurant.”
The decision followed a lengthy public hearing last month which was recorded by the court stenographer.
