In the past three years, youngsters at Rappahannock County Elementary School have participated in collection drives for labels from Campbell products. The labels they’ve gathered—10,000 in 1980, 12,000 in 1981 and 13,000 in 1982have been exchanged for over $2,500 worth of athletic equipment, according to Theresa McLawhorn, RCES physical education teacher.
“Thanks to the cooperation of the community, we’ve been able to get free basketballs, baseballs, soccer balls, tether balls and kick balls, ball cages, bats, hockey sets and bowling sets. We’re counting on that same cooperation this year to reach our goal of 20,000 labels,” said McLawhorn.
