Nelson Bunker Hunt, 57, who controls an estimated $1.4 billion. He is the second son of H. L. Hunt who left his children oil and gas trusts which include 19 percent of Placid Oil and 19 percent of Hunt Energy. The Hunt family is also at the center of the world silver trade. When prices began to rise in 1980 Nelson Hunt, his siblings and Arab partners acquired nearly 200 million ounces before the prices fell. Mr. Hunt, a Dallas native, controls more than 7.5 million acres worldwide.
