Fred Payne

Maintenance Engineer

Fred Brown Payne, 56, of Culpeper, died Monday, November 21, 1983, at Mitchells.

A self-employed maintenance engineer, his parents were the late George W. and Annie Fincham Payne. He was a native of Rappahannock County and had lived in Culpeper County for many years. Mr. Payne was a member of the Slate Mills Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Hudson Payne of Culpeper; four daughters, Mrs. Susan O'Bannon of Alexandria, Ms. Beverly DeMent of Winston-Salam, N.C., Mrs. Sandra Brown of Sperryville and Miss Patricia Payne of Culpeper; two sons, Fred Wayne Payne of Flint Hill and Francis Lewis Payne of Sperry ville; seven grandchildren; two sisters and five brothers.

Graveside services were conducted on Friday at Fairview Cemetery by the Rev. I)r. Arthur Thomas of Culpeper.

Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of arrangements.
