The Fridenstines’ daughter and her husband and two children came from Cape Cod for the holidays. (Cape Cod is where they grow Thanksgiving cranberries and make bayberry candles and scrimshaw.) They all went to see son Neal and his family at Lancaster. Virginia on turkey day then stayed for a favorite Friday family tradition—the annual Fridenstine oyster roast on the banks of the Rappahannock River.
Yesterday was Helen’s birthday; we know it was a happy one spent remembering all that fine food and good company.
Howard Holschuh says he celebrated his Thanksgiving/birthday in Irwin, Pennsylvania where he and Helen had gone to visit their daughter and her family— “and the world’s greatest grandchildren”; five-yearold Jason and 1 Vt-year-old Lorien.
