To the editor:
For many months, the dispute over a right-of-way between Mrs. Kidwell and Mrs. Saltsonstall, which resulted in the death of Ranee Spellman, has been spread over the pages of our local newspapers. Two juries were empaneled and two trials held before a verdict was reached: NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF SELF-DEFENSE.
Although the verdict was rendered and the case closed in the court, the rancor and bitterness continue. Mrs. Kidwell expressed her opinions in a letter to the editor which was promptly refuted by Mrs. Saltonstall in another letter. Citizens of the area see themselves as selfstyled judge and jury and cry out for their “pound of flesh.” Surely Mrs. Kidwell has suffered greatly and will continue to suffer as she lives her life with the knowledge that a man met death
