The emergency services of the county are eagerly awaiting completion of the police-fire-rescue dispatch center which will become operational in January, 1984. When asked how the dispatch center will aid response units, sheriff-elect John Henry Woodward enthusiastically replied, “There’s no way to put into words the benefit the new dispatch center will be to us.”
The county’s six fire companies and rescue squads are constantly upgrading their capabilities by obtaining new equipment and training for their men and women members. Since a 1973 survey was conducted, the volunteers have added three fire and three
