“People are just not buying dog tags. I’ve checked with all the wardens around here and it's a problem throughout the area,” said Rappahannock dog warden Jack Bruce. “I’ve been warning people who haven’t bought their tags, telling them that I'll give them One more chance to comply with the law, but I’m going to stop that after the January 31st deadline. Then if a dog doesn’t have a tag, I’m going to issue a summons, not a warning,” Bruce said.
“I’m giving people every chance to purchase their tags before the deadline,” the dog warden said, announcing that he has scheduled a second rabies vaccination clinic for January 28. On that date, Dr. F.M. Graves will be at the Rappahannock County Park on Route 211 across the highway from the town of Washington from 10 to 11 a.m. to give innoculations good for three years for $3.50.
Proof of current rabies Vaccination is the only prerequisite for buying dog tags. Certification must be presented to the county treasurer before she issues tags for 1983-84. Tags are $3 for male and spayed female dogs, $5 for unspayed females, $5 for male and spayed female German shepherds, $10 for unspayed female German shepherds.
