Icy roads sent one school bus on the Slate Mills/Peola Mills run sliding into a ditch last Thursday, according to school superintendent Robert Estabrook. Neither students nor driver were hurt and there was no damage to the bus, he added.

The only other problem came in Harris Hollow where the driver was forced to stop and put on chains before the school bus could proceed, Estabrook said.

An earlier accident investigated by Trooper Baines couldn’t be attributed to road conditions. On Sunday, January 8, Deborah Ann Naismith of Alexandria pulled from the stop sign at Massie’s Comer to make a left turn on Route 211. Her 1977 Toyota was struck by Jkmes Douglas Jenkins of Timberville who was westbound in a 1977 AMC station ■ wagon. According to Baines, Naismith’s car was totaled.
