uia races took new places as the new year changed the roles in general district court. Often seen previously as attorney for the defense, Peter Luke took the other end of the table in his capacity as the county’s new commonwealth’s attorney. Former sheriff W. A. Buntin has continued to record sentences on the court docket, now as a volunteer court bailiff.

January 10

Donnie Steve Jenkins received a 60 day suspended sentence after he was found guilty of threatening bodily harm to Timothy R. Jenkins (nt) relation) on December 14. Timothy Jenkins and both his parents testified that Donnie Jenkins had threatened to kill him after a dispute. Judge John Alexander dismissed charges of brandishing a firearm, but placed Jenkins, the defendant, on probation for a year. During that time he is to have no contact with Timothy or his parents. He must also pay court costs of $35.

Also on the docket for the criminal division of district court that day, was the case of Robert Weaver. Charges of assault and battery brought against him by Paula Thompson were dismissed.
