The Luray company was chosen over McClintock Associates of Harrisonburg and Gauthier and Alvarado Associates of Falls Church.
School superintendent Robert Estabrook said representatives of all three firms had met with him, toured Rappahannock’s high school, and studied plans of the existing building. Each offered to do the feasibility study and “cost out” for a fee of $1,500 to be credited against normal architectural fees should the firm be chosen for final design and administration of the construction contract.
Estabrook and Massie pointed out that selection of Baughan & Baukhages for the preliminary work doesn’t obligate the school system to hire the -ompany for later work. Bids would be taken on final design.
