There were smiles on the faces of Rappahannock’s School Board members after the supervisors approved the proposed 1984-85 school budget with a reduction of only $18,000.
But those smiles were strained last week as the School Board received a current budget update from superintendent Robert Estabrook. “I hope I never have to live with a budget this tight again,” Estabrook said, referring to the 198384 appropriations request that the supervisors cut by $116,830. The reduction left the School Board with $28,333 less to run the county’s educational programs in 1983-84 than was allocated in the previous year.
