Twenty boys and girls from Rappahannock qualified for the regional^ on the basis of their placing in the Bull Rim District meet. Six will go on to the next round, Saturday’s state “A” finals at George Wythe High School in the southwest corner of Virginia.
Distance ace Scott Keithley will be the lone representative from the boys’ squad.
He ran the two mile in 10.03.6 for second place and the mile in 4:33.6 for fourth.
“David Fischbein, David Dodson, Gary Jenkins, Craig Kenyon, Jimmy Freeman, Clarence Pendleton, Chris Caperton, Wayne Woodward and James Dennis all battled hard to win i berth at the state meet bul none managed to finish ir the top six,” Spieker reported.
Marie Davis, undefeated in the discus this season until Friday, will lead the girls contingent to Wythville or Saturday. She placed third in regionals with a throw ol 91’ 4”, just a few feet short of first.
