Whether records reveal this May still to be cooler than last year by 4.6 degrees in the daytime but two degrees warmer at night. There has been more rainfall through the first two weeks of this May (2.21 inches) than during the same time period for last May (.24 inches).

In the past, May has offered some cool eveningB with temperatures dipping to freezing twice in 1981, in the 30’s six times in 1983 including a low of 29 degrees on May 10. May has also provided some warm days, when in 1982 the temperature soared (for May) to higher than 80 degrees on eleven different occasions, something that has not occurred at all ao far this May.

People interested in weather will continue to find May an interesting month. It is almost as if it were tel£ ing us it is trying to shake loose from spring but can’t quite find where summer is...and that’s the way it should be.
